  • 0.5 tablespoon lemon zest Substitute with lime zest if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning mix Can use individual herbs if preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne powder Optional for added heat.
  • 0.25 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped Fresh tomatoes can be substituted.
  • to taste freshly chopped basil leaves Can swap for parsley if needed.

Cooking Steps

  • Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat until it begins to foam.
  • Add the pressed garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and heavy cream until smooth.
  • Pour the cream mixture into the skillet and stir well. Add lemon zest, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, cayenne (if using), and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Let simmer for 3-4 minutes to thicken.
  • Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until they turn pink.
  • Remove from heat and stir in with fresh basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

For best results, use fresh shrimp, avoid overcooking, and taste for seasoning adjustments.
