  • 4 pieces sweet potatoes Choose firm and blemish-free sweet potatoes.

Toppings and Seasonings

  • to taste brown sugar Use less if you prefer less sweetness.
  • to taste sour cream Can be substituted with Greek yogurt.
  • to taste butter Add for creaminess.
  • to taste chives Fresh chives are recommended, can substitute with parsley.
  • to taste salt For seasoning.
  • to taste pepper For seasoning.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Scrub the sweet potatoes under cool running water with a vegetable brush and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  • Use a fork to pierce the skin of the sweet potatoes several times.

Baking

  • Place the sweet potatoes on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 60 minutes, depending on their size, until done.
  • To check for doneness, insert a knife into the thickest part; if it goes in easily, they are ready.
  • Remove from the oven, split them open, and fluff the insides with a fork.

Serving

  • Top your baked sweet potatoes with butter, sour cream, brown sugar, and chives or your favorite toppings.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

For perfect results, pierce the skin well to avoid bursting, rotate them halfway through baking, and allow to cool slightly to enhance flavors. Experiment with toppings for variety.
